The Prince of Wales Visits Ysgol Cwm Brombil

Last Updated: Tues 26th Feb

His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales, visited our school on Friday 22nd Feb to speak to our Prince’s Trust pupils and to see for himself how pupils are benefitting from studying the course.

After arriving, HRH was welcomed by our Primary Phase pupils and then chatted to Senior Prefects before walking into our main hall where he was greeted by Year 10 pupils who are studying towards their Level 2 Princes Trust Achieve qualification.

The course allows pupils to develop their own personal growth and prepare them for life beyond school with units such as career planning, managing money and preparing for a healthy lifestyle all being studied.

As part of their STEM unit, pupils have been working in teams to build and program remote controlled cars which they eagerly showed off to the Prince. HRH chatted to pupils from each group before having a go at driving the car himself. The Prince then bid farewell to the Prince’s Trust pupils and moved to the sports hall where our Secondary Phase pupils were waiting for him. Our Choir, which was consisted of a mix of Primary and Secondary pupils, gave a stunning rendition of “Homesick” by Dua Lipa and a Welsh classic, Calon Lan, which were both enjoyed by HRH.

Along with our Headteacher Mr Clarke, the Prince then unveiled a plaque to commemorate his visit before Ikra Hassan & Olivia James of Year 11 and Year 1 pupils Florie Davies & Harry Lewis presented him with a gift from the school. HRH then wished all pupils the best of luck for upcoming exams and their futures. Primary pupils were then lined up on the Princes exit to wish him farewell. Everyone at Ysgol Cwm Brombil would like to thank HRH for taking the time to visit our school. The day shall be remembered for many years to come.
